Lunch Bag Friday... More Halloween! :)
Happy Lunch Bag Friday!!! :) A clever monster and allusion to one of the shrinking portraits in Disney’s Haunted Mansion…. only Seth used our daughters instead. I LOVE THESE!

Tricky Situations
Happy Lunch Bag Friday!!!
We laughed and laughed over these lunch bags Seth drew for the kids. I can neither confirm nor deny if these things have ever happened to us. :) I love the reference of the Haunted Mansion wallpaper in the ghost drawing. The kids loved bringing these to school. In fact Makenzie said that along with other kids, her teachers are beginning to look forward to Fridays to see the sacks she will bring and Kendyl has had the lunch room duty hold them in the air for the lunch room to see several times. It can be hard to move and go to a new school- I’m grateful for these cute presents their dad draws them. They are great conversation starters for making new friends. :) Thanks Seth! Happy October!

A Witch and Her Friend
Here's a witch lunch sack that Seth made last year and her friend. :) One of the reason I love Halloween so much is because of the colors. I took these pictures from my front porch this morning as my girls and I sat out there eating our cereal watching the sunrise turning the purple clouds to gold and burning off the morning fog.

Lunch Bag Friday: WitchyPoo on a Mop! :0)
Happy Lunch Bag Friday!!! I always look forward to the "first witch of the season" that Seth draws. I'm so amazed with how they never look the same. I didn't know there were so many different types of witches until I married this guy. :)
This little Witchy-poo is quite traditional I think. She's pretty cute. Kendyl has appropriately named her Esmeralda and is going to make up a little story about her and her feisty kitty when she gets home from school today. :) I really love the look of contrast that can be reached on these brown sacks. The white seems so bright. I love that moon. Seth was inspired to create Esmeralda by the animation clip our girls made the same morning as the animation I posted last week of the ghost coming from the fire place. They actually created this one first. It's very very brief, but they were excited to discover how to make it look like Kendyl was flying and made about 20 other versions of flying kids. hahaha This little clip was the first one to jump start a whole new world for them. :) When I saw it I was so impressed with them that I jumped up and down. hahaha It's cute to see Penelope in the background eating her oatmeal and watching her sisters be weird. When she watches this clip now she says, "I don't remember Kendyl flying. I thought she was just jumping, but I guess she was flying really quick when I wasn't looking." lol Here is the clip. You will notice that Kendyl is flying on a mop. She couldn't find the broom and they were too excited to try out Kenzie's idea of jumping in the air while taking the picture to see if it would look like she was flying.
I like how my kids are inspired by their daddy to create animation like him, who is in turn inspired to make a drawing, which inspires Kendyl to want to write a story, and on and on. Creativity is a fun, never ending cycle. Life is art. Art and beauty and inspiration are all around us. I don't understand when people get jealous of other's skills instead of being inspired by them or want to surround themselves with it. It's just a jumping off point for something else fun you could create or in the very least enjoy and find beauty and happiness through. Well we hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy those fall leaves and keep your eyes out for any witches on mops. :)

Lunch Bag Friday: Dead Man's Party
Happy Lunch Bag Friday! We kinda get into Halloween around here... just a bit. We don't really like to wait until October to start celebrating and neither do our lunch sacks. :) Oingo Boingo's song "Dead Man's Party" was the inspiration behind this deadly lunch bag duo. A week ago our youngest begged and begged to have our family watch "Monster House" one night after decorating for Halloween. She felt like watching something Halloweeny and was proud that her daddy helped animate that movie back in 2006. We warned her over and over it was probably too scary, but finally we caved to her pleadings. Sure enough she was freaked out and got after her daddy for sometimes animating scary movies. hahahaha (fyi- She's fine now, by the end she liked it).
For fun I thought I'd share some of our Halloween decorations this year that we have up so far....
Witch's Brew in the fireplace. I loved our daughter's idea to put lights in the cauldron to look like it was hot and boiling.
Front Entry way. The kids love to play and decorate with that huge, hairy spider and put him in different places- so it feels like he wanders around the house when we aren't looking. For now, he's guarding the stairs and admire the little Halloween silhouettes I made of our family this last week. :)
Close ups of our silhouettes I made. They were a lot of fun.
Family Room- I love sewing and that dress in the corner was my oldest daughter's Halloween vampire costume she helped me sew last year. I also designed and made the little felt advent calendar countdown to Halloween on the right side of the photo.
The real beauty in all of our decor is the family painting that Seth made of us a few years ago. We love it so much we just keep it up year round! :)
Top of entertainment center. These Disney BigFigs have a place in our home year round too. hehe
Our girls like animating like their daddy. Nothing like some spooky decor to inspire a little stop-motion animation. They are currently saving up for an ipod to create much better animation than their 3ds, but they still have fun. They did this bit last Sunday and they figured out all on their own how to make it look like she was flying. We were so proud. :)
Well Happy Haunting this next month! Enjoy the fall and think of us. :) More spooky lunch sacks to come!

The Winning Bag!
This is the bag Seth drew for the winner of our contest that we had on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/whizbangbags. When we contacted Kori (the winner) she said that it would be tough to narrow down one funny story because she has four kids (I guess she doesn't play favorites lol), but said that she loved elephants... so this is what Seth came up with.
We know Kori from church so Seth thought it would be fun to reference the writings of Paul to the to Philippians (Philippians 4) also one of our articles of faith (number 13). It's a funny saying that Seth and I always say when we are talking about that particular Article of Faith (the real words are "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent...). Kind of like a hymn that we sing in church that we changed the words to "High on a Mountain Top, a badger chased a squirrel" instead of "a banner is unfurled" or "I Am a Child of God... with parents kind of weird" instead of "with parents kind and dear" or my personal favorite from Primary which Seth believed were the words for many many years "Give Seth the Little String" instead of "Give Said the Little Stream". We haven't been struck by lightning yet. (knock on wood)
Well Kori, you didn't have to play favorites, he threw the whole family in! I think it's fabulous! He's never turned a bag sideways for the design. It's very charming. We'll pass it along to you soon.
Congrats again on winning! We'll have to do this contest again soon! In the meantime, only one more day until new "Lunch Bag Friday" drawings are posted. He was sketching out fun ideas last night. Please share this site with your friends and family. We'd love to get a big enough fan base of people following the page to be taken more seriously by book publishers or companies that could print these sacks.

Monster of Frankenstein and His Bride
Well even though it's not October yet... we have been decorating for Halloween. :) It's one of my favorite times of the year! I'm creating some Halloween silhouettes of our family for the staircase. Seth and I will be this couple. :) He drew these bags in Oct. of 2011
